Muyu Camp is located on the banks of the Zambezi River in one of the wildest and most remote parts of Africa in the Dande Conservancy in north eastern Zimbabwe.

Muyu Camp is an exclusive use photographic safari lodge for up to 12 guests in 6 rooms with commanding views over the Zambezi river framed by game rich islands.

At Muyu, your time is your own as you decide when to head out on a walk or on a river cruise to go game viewing, birdwatching or fishing. Or simply spend your day in the comfort of a soft couch in the lodge watching the river flow by.

What we love about Muyu

The laid back and relaxed environment of open plan lounge and dining areas that overlook the river and the pool.
The rooms are furnished to a very comfortable standard with top quality linen, beds and towels with all of the amenities that you need. Overhead fans cool the rooms in summer and have a private veranda that overlook the river.
Laundry is done daily.
Waking to the sound of the birds and the resident Fish Eagle calling.
Drifting off to sleep to the grunt of the hippos and call of the Pels Fishing Owls that are regularly sighted at Muyu.
Peter, the resident chef prepares excellent home style meals such as roasts, fresh fish and braais. Fresh bread is baked daily.
Elephant, buffalo, waterbuck, hippo and crocodiles are prolific in the area with elephant and buffalo frequently crossing the river to graze on the vegetation rich islands that Muyu overlooks.
Cruising down the Zambezi bird watching and spotting hippos and crocodiles whilst sipping on an ice cold G&T or stopping off on a sandy river bank for sundowners.
The early morning sunlight and the beautiful sunsets and the lingering orange glow after sunset.

Need to know

Muyu Camp has bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms that have showers and a seperate loo.
Top quality linen and towels are provided and laundry is done daily.
Children are welcome and there are two family friendly rooms.
The camp is off the grid and is fully solar-powered and has a water filtration system. There is lots of refrigeration and an ice machine.
Fishing rods, and bait are supplied. (Please bring your own tackle)
The lodge is unfenced and in the dry season Elephant and Buffalo frequently pass by en-route to the river with frequent crossing to the islands.
Muyu is a bird watchers paradise with 400 species of birds in the area.
Muyu Camp is an authentic wilderness experience in a remote and unspoilt part of Africa.
Wifi is provided in the Camp office.

How to get to Muyu camp



Drive

The camp is about 350km from Harare (about 6 hrs) routing Mazowe, Mvurwi, Guruve, Mahuwe, Mashumbi Pools, Angwa, Chapoto. The tar ends at Mahuwe and is a rough dirt road there to camp (about 140kms). 4×4 is not essential, but a sturdy SUV or twin-cab is recommended.

This is the easiest and most convenient way to get to Muyu and we can provide you with a few charter companies to compare flight rates, which will depend on the size of your party.
